2014 Learning Garden

Planned and designed in 2012, the Learning Garden provides a space for the planting of both vegetables and flowers.  Eventually, there will be a grape arbor and espelliared fruit trees, with the focus of the garden being on small space gardening.  Different techniques can be applied to determine effectiveness.  Are heirlooms better?  What type of organic fertilizers and what watering patterns provide the most success?  The 'Learning' Garden has also been a 'Teaching' Garden for the Master Gardener interns as classes are held outdoors, and composting classes for the public.

The photos show our eager volunteers getting the ball rolling for 2014!

For more information about the progress of our Learning Garden, and the plans for the future, there is a wonderful article in the 2014 Summer newsletter by the project manager, Tom Wentzel.
